Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park
It is a small and charming park , located in the northeast of Tanzania. It is close to the city of Arusha and has amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro. In this picturesque park, you can find a wide range of animal and plant species, as well as endless different landscapes. From lakes, waterfalls and swamps to volcanoes, mountains and rainforest. All animals have an ideal space in Arusha National Park.
Mount Meru
Within the park is Mount Meru. It is a dormant volcano and the second highest mountain in Tanzania, with a height of 4,566 meters. Climbing it is a beautiful experience, but the climbing is quite hard. However, you will be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro and the Momella lakes from the top and we can assure you that making the effort is worth it.
Walking or canoe safari
They are two of the most popular activities in Arusha National Park . In the Momella lakes , located to the northeast of the park, you can see hippos, fallow deer, buffalo, and a wide variety of other animals, as well as all types of birds. If you want to break the monotony of going to see animals from a safari vehicle, these are the perfect alternatives.
Arusha National Park is located 45 minutes from the city of Arusha and 50 kilometers from Mount Kilimanjaro .

Advice
My name is Qorro and I have been a guide in Arusha National Park for 17 years. What visitors like most about the park is the number of birds and monkeys there are. Canoe and walking safaris are also very popular, because they allow you to get much closer to the animals.
I recommend that you reserve 1 full day to visit the park . However, if you want to climb Mount Meru , then you will need 3 to 4 days.
Best time to climb Mount Meru
The best time is from June to March (in November, there may be sporadic rain), but December to March are the months when views of Kilimanjaro are best enjoyed.
