Elephants actually use these trees as a source of water during the dry season because they have a unique method for extracting water from their trunks. These trees can live for hundreds of years. In addition, groups of up to 300 elephants can be seen in Tarangire in different season alongside a variety of other animals because the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season! Breakfast is served prior to the start of these activities, and lunch is served at your picnic locations. You will leave the park in the late afternoon and make your way to your lodging in Karatu for dinner and the night, or if appropriate in this situation, you may choose to go on a nighttime game drive which provides you with a chance to see nocturnal creatures including the big cats and the African bush babies.

This is a fantastic day for a migration safari to see wildlife in the savannah plains of the Serengeti National Park. You will be served with breakfast before departure with your packed lunch in hand. Where the migratory herds are, will determine which areas you visit, on this day you may focus on exploring the central Serengeti particularly the Seronera area. Predators such as lions, leopards (in the acacia trees), and cheetahs typically trail closely behind the trekking animals. The large herds of wildebeests accompanied with other herbivores travel from the northern hills to the southern plains during the brief rainy season in November and December. They move back up north in April and June, which is the longer rainy season. The herds’ exact locations may change from year to year because their migration is entirely reliant on the annual rainfalls, but your guide will be able to tell you where to look for the animals and where to get the best views. You will stay at the opulent Serengeti Heritage Camp for dinner and the night. Serengeti Heritage Camp is a premier eco-friendly tented camp nestled in the heart of the Serengeti, offering a unique blend of luxury and immersion in nature. Over 25,000 mammals, including the “Big Five” of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard, as well as spotted hyenas, rare golden jackals, and some of the more than 350 bird species that call the massive collapsed volcano home, can be found there.
